Shockwave therapy
Stubborn soft tissue pains and injuries holding you back?
If you've tried rest, exercise, or other treatments and still can't shift that persistent soft tissue pain or injury, you're not alone, and you're not out of options. Shockwave therapy is a clinically proven, non-invasive treatment that works by stimulating your body's own healing response, reaching the root of problems that haven't responded to conventional care.
At Optimum Chiropractic Clinic, we offer shockwave therapy as part of our commitment to bringing you the most effective, evidence-informed treatments available, built into your regular appointments, not bolted on as something separate.
What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy uses a specialist device to deliver targeted pressure waves through the skin and into the affected tissue. These pulses stimulate blood flow, encourage tissue repair, and break down the changes in tissue that keep pain going, all without injections, medication, or surgery.
It's one of the most well-researched physical therapies available for stubborn musculoskeletal conditions, and is endorsed by NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) for several common problems where conservative treatment hasn't been enough.
We use the Storz Medical MasterPuls R-SW 50, a leading clinical-grade device used in research settings worldwide.

Could Shockwave Therapy Help You?
Shockwave therapy is particularly well-suited to persistent or chronic conditions, the ones that have been lingering for months and holding you back from doing the things you love.
We commonly use it to treat:
-
Plantar fasciitis — heel or arch pain, especially that sharp first-step pain in the morning
-
Achilles tendinopathy — stiffness and aching at the back of the ankle
-
Tennis elbow — stubborn pain on the outside of the elbow that won't go away
-
Hip pain (greater trochanteric pain syndrome) — outer hip or thigh pain, often worse walking or lying on your side
-
Calcific shoulder tendinopathy — deep shoulder pain caused by calcium deposits in the tendon
-
Muscle knots and trigger points — tight, tender spots that cause referred pain elsewhere
Not sure if it's right for you? Get in touch and we'll talk it through.
Part of your appointment, not instead of it
Shockwave therapy at Optimum Chiropractic Clinic isn't an isolated procedure. It's incorporated within your regular appointment, so you still receive the same thorough assessment, hands-on treatment, exercise prescription, and advice you'd expect from any session with shockwave therapy added in where it's clinically appropriate.
Research shows that shockwave therapy combined with a targeted home programme, whether that's specific stretching, loading exercises or both, produces better results than either treatment alone.
