Dizziness, vertigo, and balance issues
Helping you understand your dizziness and feel steady again.
Dizziness can be one of the most distressing symptoms to experience.
Whether the room spins when you roll over in bed, you feel constantly off balance, become overwhelmed in busy supermarkets, or have been living with symptoms for months despite normal scans and medical tests, dizziness can have a profound impact on your quality of life.
At Optimum Chiropractic Clinic, Ben provides comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation for a wide range of dizziness and balance disorders. Every assessment begins with one aim: to understand why you're experiencing dizziness, identify the most likely cause, recognise when further medical investigation may be required, and develop a personalised plan to help you return to living with confidence.
A Thorough Assessment
No two people experience dizziness in the same way.
Rather than simply treating symptoms, Ben takes the time to understand your story, including:
-
How your dizziness began
-
What triggers or relieves your symptoms
-
How it affects your work, hobbies and daily life
-
Whether your symptoms fit a recognised vestibular condition
-
Whether there are any signs that require further medical investigation or referral
Depending on your presentation, your assessment may include neurological screening, vestibular examination, positional testing, balance assessment, eye movement examination and cervical spine assessment.
Advanced assessment technology
To complement a detailed clinical examination, Optimum Chiropractic Clinic uses specialist equipment that is rarely available in general musculoskeletal practice.

Infrared Video Goggles (Vesticam)
Infrared video goggles allow involuntary eye movements (nystagmus) to be observed and recorded in the dark. This can improve the assessment of treatable causes of dizziness and identify cases that require medical referral.

Eye precision
software
Used alongside Vesticam to objectively measures eye movements during vestibular assessment. It provides additional data to support clinical reasoning and monitor progress where appropriate.

Cervical Joint Position Sense Testing
For patients whose neck may be contributing to their symptoms, a head mounted laser helps to assess cervical joint position sense (proprioception). This objective assessment can help determine whether altered neck awareness may be contributing to dizziness and guide targeted rehabilitation.
Conditions Commonly Assessed
Ben has undertaken additional postgraduate training in vestibular assessment and rehabilitation and commonly assesses people experiencing:
-
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
-
Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD)
-
Vestibular Migraine
-
Cervicogenic Dizziness
-
Persistent dizziness following vestibular neuritis
-
Motion sensitivity
-
Balance disorders
Not everyone experiencing dizziness has one of these conditions. An important part of the assessment is determining whether your symptoms are consistent with a vestibular disorder, another musculoskeletal condition, or whether further medical assessment is appropriate.
What patients say...

I can't recommend Ben enough. I had been suffering from dizziness for months, I had been off work for over 2 months. I'd tried the NHS route which was slow and I was told I was too young to access the service I needed. Ben worked with me to suggest I had PPPD and developed a personal treatment plan. The way Ben works was amazing, the ability to have Ben make quick changes to a treatment plan based on symptoms was brilliant. His approach really worked for me. Following Ben's recommendations i'm 95% further along than I was when I started. Highly recommend.
My experience with Ben was amazing. 🤩
He gave me so much information, answered all my questions and always made me feel comfortable. This was a game changer in my life. He gave me the tools and the confidence to overcome my fears and symptoms.
Thank you Ben. I hope you continue to change lives.
Thank you. ☺️
A service by someone with lived experience
Ben's interest in dizziness extends beyond his clinical training.
Several years ago, he developed persistent dizziness himself. Despite undergoing numerous medical investigations and being reassured that nothing serious had been found, the symptoms continued to affect every aspect of daily life.
As a former Great Britain gymnast, persistent dizziness had a significant impact on training, competition and everyday activities. Even travelling by boat or plane became difficult.
Through a better understanding of vestibular disorders, evidence-informed rehabilitation and a gradual return to activity, Ben made a full recovery. He returned to the British team, achieved a personal best, and regained the confidence to enjoy the activities that dizziness had once taken away.
That personal experience inspired him to undertake extensive additional training in vestibular assessment and rehabilitation. Today, it allows him to combine genuine empathy with evidence-informed clinical care, helping others better understand their symptoms and work towards recovery.
